Rose Marie (Stites)
Sutton, 59, of Blackwell, OK passed away Saturday,
August 30, 2008 in OU Medical Center, Oklahoma City,
OK. Rose was born January 14, 1949 in Stillwater,
Ok. to Thelma (King) and Loyd S. Stites. She grew up
in Stillwater and later moved with her family to
Colorado moving back to Oklahoma at the age of 9
spending a great deal of time with her grandmother,
Vertie King, whom she loved dearly.
She attended school in the Ponca City area where she
met and later married Nonnie W. Rowe Sr. They raised
their family of four children in Blackwell and Ponca
City. She later married Jess Sutton on Feb. 21, 1986
in Miami, OK residing in Blackwell until her death.
Rose worked many years in Home Health Care; she
enjoyed helping others in need and would often spend
extra hours making them feel comfortable. She was
also a welder/machinist at Air Systems Components

home health care and returned to work with them
until illness forced her to resign.
Rose Sutton attended the First Free Will Baptist
Church in Blackwell where she formed a strong
relationship with God, often commenting how welcome
she felt and how much she enjoyed the fellowship.
Having been saved, her family was very much at peace
knowing she was going home to be with the Lord.
Rose enjoyed gardening, as evident by her beautiful
yard, and was bestowed with Yard of The Week
numerous times. Rose loved to have her family around
and the sounds of laughter could often be heard from
the many backyard cookouts. Rose was an avid crafter
and could make most any craft just from looking at
it. She loved to see people’s faces light up when
presented with one of her unique, one of a kind,
hand made gifts.
She was an avid fan of OU Football and Nascar,
weekends were often spent with family watching a
game or race. Rose was also fond of spending quiet
time at home watching movies with her loving
husband.
Near and dear to Rose were her two best friends,
Peanut and Dakota, who never failed to have a
wagging tail and wet tongue ready for her.
Preceding her in death were her step-father NW (Dub)
Rowe, beloved son-in-law Billy Dold and infant
granddaughter Anita Kathrine Sprueill.
Surviving are her Mother of Ponca City; husband,
