Leona
Pearl Allison, 90, of Blackwell, Oklahoma passed
away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Integris
Blackwell Regional Hospital. She was born April
22, 1920 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Oscar and
Lilly (Whitmarsh) McGrew.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 28,
2010 at 2:30 pm at the First Church of the
Nazarene with Pastor, Herb Berkley officiating,
interment will follow in the Blackwell
Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction
of the Blackwell Funeral Home, Blackwell,
Oklahoma.
Leona grew up in Blackwell and attended a
country school and Blackwell school through
eighth grade.
She married Roy Allison on July 21, 1935 and
celebrated forty eight years before he preceded
her in death in 1983.
Leona worked with the smelter and was a member
of the ladies Auxiliary during that time. She
loved to knit and crochet, enjoyed the flowers,
her cat, and attended the First Church of the
Nazarene. Most of all she enjoyed baby sitting
and helping with the grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter Waneta Evans and
her husband, Leon from Blackwell, Oklahoma;
seven grandchildren, Kenny Evans, Linda Brown,
Shari Kennedy, Steven, Billy and Charley Wiggs,
Melvin Allison; nine great grandchildren,
Allison Bliss, Ashley and Kendra Evans, Michael
Brown, Keith Kennedy, Denise Head, Drew Coffey,
Neal and Anna Wiggs; six great great grand
children, Brenton and Kenton Bliss, Zakk and
Kristina Kennedy, Kyson and Payton Head;
numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her
parents; one daughter, Reta Wiggs; one son,
Robert Allison; one brother, Vernon McGrew; one
sister, Hazel DeFore; and one great grandchild,
Nathan Brown.
