Larry
Shanks Snow, 74, of Blackwell, Oklahoma passed away
Thursday, December 10, 2009 at his residence in
Blackwell, Oklahoma. He was born July 13, 1935 in
Weir City, Kansas to Albert and Jessie (Hardie)
Snow.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December
15, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Blackwell Cemetery with
Senior Pastor Dr. Robert Johnson officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the
Blackwell Funeral Home, Blackwell, Oklahoma.
Larry moved to Blackwell when he was five, attended
the Blackwell school systems and graduated in 1954.
He was a member of the Tabernacle Church were he
enjoyed getting to learn all he could about God and
the future.
In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for
9 years before receiving an Honorable Discharge.
He married the love of his life, Norma (Bell)
Tannehill on November 4, 1959. This year they
celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Larry worked for the City of Blackwell for forty
years. He was very devoted to his job.
During his free time he enjoyed doing a lot of
woodworking and photography. Most of all Larry
enjoyed spending time with his friends and family
and watching the grandchildren growing up.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Snow of the home;
one son, Dwight Tannehill and his wife, Brenda of
Blackwell, Oklahoma; one daughter, Lori Amend and
her husband, Jody of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one
brother, Wayne
Snow and his wife, Leah of Ottawa, Kansas; one
sister, Aletha Orcutt and her husband, Ted of Ponca
City, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; six great
grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one
grandson, Jared Lantz.
