Alton Prentiss Hallmark, 85, of Blackwell, Oklahoma
passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 in his home.
He was born in Tishomingo, Oklahoma on March 23,
1924 to Elbert Evans and Lillie Mae Bell Blanch Fay
(Carrell) Hallmark.
Alton has
requested to be cremated with a memorial service at
a later date. Arrangements are under the direction
of the Blackwell Funeral Home, Blackwell, Oklahoma.
Alton grew
up in Durwood, Oklahoma graduating from school
there. He was a Machinist at Blackwell Auto Parts
for many years and was a life time member of V.F.W.,
American Legion and Streeters. Alton loved to repair
cars and go fishing.
Alton
married Vera Ilene Patterson on January 8, 1945 in
Ontario, California and they celebrated 65 years of
marriage in January.
Survivors
include his wife, Vera of the home; his sons, Ovan
P. Hallmark and his wife, Ilayali of Jackson,
Mississippi, John E. Hallmark and his wife, Alice of
San Jose, California, and Allen Hallmark of Edmond,
Oklahoma; his brothers, Curtis, Howard and Trent
Hallmark; seven grandchildren; seven great
grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was
preceded in death by his parents and his siblings’,
William, Dorothy, Wendell, Joseph, Clara, Nadin,
Elbert, Clifford, Edith, Clarence, Peggy and Estle.
