Albert L. Cottle, 58, of Blackwell, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008 in the VA Medical Center, Oklahoma City, OK. He was born December 28, 1949 in Corsicana, Texas to Omer and Faye Lydia (Propper) Cottle.

Funeral Service will be Monday, October 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Bill McKissick officiating, interment will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Blackwell Funeral Home, Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Albert’s family moved to Blackwell when he was two years old.  He graduated from Blackwell High School in 1968, then graduated from NOC in Tonkawa and attended Pioneer Technology Center in Ponca City.  He was an All State Champion Wrestler in 1967-68 in high school. He joined the National Guard while in high school in 1967 till 1970. 

He married Barbara Turner August 8, 1970 in the Baptist Church in Blackwell, Oklahoma.  He entered the United States Army June 29, 1971 and was discharged June 28, 1979 as a Sgt 1st Class.  He served for a year and a half at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, four years at Ft. Hood, Texas, three-six months tours in Germany and during his time moved his family to Germany for two years of duty in 74-76. He was a wrestling coach while stationed in Germany.

Albert came back to Blackwell after being honorably discharged from the Army and went to work at CFM working there for ten years; then working at Ark City Meat Packing Plant for eight years and going to work for O.I.C.C. working there till the time of his death.

Albert was a little league coach in Blackwell for many years, he loved to work with children.  He loved to fish and would catch cat fish with hellgrammite bait that he found under rocks. He was an avid OU fan, an expert Santa Claus for his family and friends, enjoyed playing poker, was well known for his pecans which he would pick, crack and sale, but his greatest love was for his family.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara of the home; two sons, Albert L Cottle, Jr. and his wife, Mandi, of Oakfield, Wisconsin, Dyle Duane Cottle of Blackwell, Oklahoma; his daughter, Melisa Marie Cottle of Blackwell, Oklahoma; his mother in law, Velma Turner of Blackwell, Oklahoma; his brothers, Alan K. Barber and his wife, Anita of Texas, Galen Propper of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Nicole, Sarah, Edison Cottle, Susan, Zachary, Tyler Cottle, Meyah, Matthue Cottle and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Virginia Mae Cottle and his father in law Murl Turner.
